And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance – Samuel Jackson Was Robbed
Ezekiel 25 : 17
“The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the inequities of the selfish, and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he, who in the name of charity and goodwill shepherds the weak through the valley of darkness, for he is truly his brother’s keeper and the finder of lost children. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger, those who attempt to poison and destroy my brothers, and you will know my name is The Lord, when I lay my vengeance upon thee.”
Of course this is the dialog that Jules speaks before he whacks someone.
John Travolta was nominated for an Academy Award for his role as Vinnie Vega in Pulp Fiction. I beg to disagree about this nomination. Samuel Jackson and his role as Jules clearly outshined Travolta’s role. Travolta’s character, Vinnie Vega, talked about ordering a Royale with Cheese, danced with Uma Thurman’s character, revives her from an overdose, and gets whacked by Bruce Willis.
The real performance in this move was over looked. Samuel Jackson should have been nominated and won for his role as Jules. His scene in the apartment stating Ezekiel 25:17 and eating a tasty burger was magnificent. The diner robbery scene was even more spectacular.
In my opinion, Travolta was nominated by the Academy as a reward for hi previous work in Saturday Night Fever, Urban Cowboy, and Grease. The real nominee (Jackson) was robbed.
I’m not saying Jackson is the greatest actor in the world, but without him, the movie has no soul.
